Jamella Gow is a doctoral candidate in Sociology with an emphasis in Black Studies at the University of California Santa Barbara. Her research centers on immigration, race, and Black identity. Her dissertation reveals how Afro-Caribbean migrants navigate racial and ethnic belonging through both immigrant and Black identities in South Florida.
